The Early Years
Ransford was born on July 15, 1945, in Esiama, a coastal town in Ghana's Western Region. He was the sixth of seven children born to Gordon Ackah and Dinah Armoo.
From an early age, life presented significant challenges. Despite demonstrating exceptional academic ability, financial hardship often threatened his ability to continue his education. Yet through determination, perseverance, and the support of those who believed in him, he continued to pursue learning and personal growth.
These early experiences shaped the character that would define his life: resilience in hardship, gratitude for every opportunity, and a deep compassion for others facing their own struggles.
Finding His Calling
As a young man living in Kumasi, Ransford encountered a group of Christians sharing the gospel in the city streets. What began as a chance encounter became the turning point of his life.
Moved by the message he heard, he responded wholeheartedly to God's calling.
That decision would shape every chapter that followed.
He quickly became involved in church life, serving as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, and mentor. His passion for the Scriptures and his desire to help others grow spiritually became evident to all who knew him.
Recognizing a call to full-time ministry, he enrolled at the Southern Ghana Bible Institute, where he distinguished himself both as a student and a leader.
Family
Among the greatest blessings of Ransford's life was his marriage to his wife Johanna.
Together they embarked on a remarkable journey that would take them across continents and through seasons of both challenge and joy. Their shared faith, commitment, and partnership became the foundation upon which their family was built.
They travelled through Europe and North America before eventually returning to Ghana, where they committed themselves to the work they believed God had entrusted to them.
Together they raised four sons, welcomed grandchildren into the family, and opened their home to countless friends, visitors, and fellow believers over the years.
The Man Behind the Ministry
Those who knew Ransford personally often remember more than his public ministry.
They remember his warmth.
His laughter.
His love for people.
His hospitality.
His willingness to listen.
They remember a man who genuinely cared for others, regardless of background or status.
He welcomed people into his home, invested in their lives, and encouraged them to pursue their God-given purpose.
While many knew him as a teacher and a mentor, those closest to him knew him as a devoted husband, loving father, loyal friend, and faithful companion.
A Life Worth Remembering
On August 15, 2016, Ransford passed away following a motor vehicle accident while returning to Accra after visiting churches and family in Ghana's Western Region.
Though his earthly journey came to an unexpected end, the impact of his life continues through his family, his teachings, the churches he helped establish, and the many lives he touched.
His story remains a testimony to faith, perseverance, service, and love.
