A TRIBUTE FROM THE CHURCH IN ACCRA

“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what shall I choose, I cannot tell. For I am hard pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Nevertheless, to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.” (Philippians 1:21-24).

The news of the sudden passing away of our dear brother Ransford Ackah through a lorry accident was received with profound shock not only in the Church in Accra, but also in all the churches worldwide.

Ransford’s love for the Lord was matchless and evident for all to see. Like many young men who traveled to America in the late 60’s, he could have settled down to a comfortable living, but necessity was laid on him to speak the word of God as he saw the vision of God’s New Testament economy. Thus, our brother Ransford returned to Gahan in 1972 and started meeting with a few Christians whom he knew before travelling abroad. He taught them God’s eternal purpose and the New Testament Economy. He spoke the word of God with frankness, openness and unsurpassed zeal. Not quite long afterward, the Church in Accra was established and our brother raised and nurtured nearly all the saints, both young and old.

Ransford consistently welcomed members of the community into his home, extending personal mentorship and support to many. His exceptional hospitality, generosity, and care distinguished him as a leader whose influence has left a lasting and meaningful impact on this generation.

The churches spread to many localities all over Ghana and beyond to Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, and East Africa. Brother Ransford always had a ready and broad smile, and we never saw him frown. No matter the problem you presented to him, he had a listening ear. He was always there for all the saints and all the churches. Ransford demonstrated profound understanding of scripture and communicated its truths with clarity and precision. His illustrative examples were both incisive and impactful, consistently conveying the core message with remarkable effectiveness. He possessed keen intuition and a refined sense of discernment, which enriched his ministry and personal interactions.

He had an unparalleled charisma which captured all of us. He had clear vision of the Lord’s recovery, which was broad and focused, and which he imparted to all freely. Whenever we were distracted, he was there to bring us back to the vision.

Many of us got to know him at different times. Many of us are the fruit of his labor. He touched our hearts with the truth of Gods word, pricked our consciences and challenged our love for the Lord more intimately. The eloquent spirit-filled prayers, the inspiring songs of praise, and the masterly expositions of the truth of Gods word concerning God’s New Testament Economy are his legacy to the Church in Accra, particularly to all the churches in the sub-Saharan region in general.

Brother Ransford was very practical. His service and dedication to the churches were unmatched. He was undoubtedly the most traveled amongst the saints. He visited all the churches where he raised them up and encouraged them to press on in the Lord. It is from this background that we see a global evangelist whose desire was to spread the gospel to all corners of the earth.

The young people of the local churches will forever remember the quality time he spent with them, especially during the Young Peoples Conferences. He had an uncanny ability to relate at their level. By this many young people have come to know the Lord and have fully given their lives to the testimony of the living Lord.

Like a man on a mission, brother Ransford, getting to the end of his life compiles some of his messages to be published into booklets. He wrote two books, “The Headship of Christ” and “Knowing Gods Principles”, form the mainstay of his legacy.

With the Lord’s enablement, we will ensure that his dream and ours disseminate the truth concerning God’s economy and eternal purpose, will be fully released and realized. He passed the baton to us and by the Lord’s Grace we will do our utmost to complete the race. Our brother’s body may have seen corruption, but we strongly believe that on the last he shall see God.

Brother Ransford has preceded us but at the last trumpet we shall see him again and we shall all be together with the Lord forever. AMEN!
